This is an exceptional opportunity for you to influence high-level decision-making, ensuring that procurement strategies, policies, and processes are not only robust but also future-focused and aligned with government policy. You will be at the heart of a supportive directorate that values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
What you'll do:
As Procurement Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how this organisation approaches purchasing decisions at every level. Your day-to-day work will involve designing strategic frameworks that guide end-to-end procurement activity—from needs analysis through market engagement to supplier management—ensuring these processes are efficient, transparent, and aligned with broader organisational objectives. You will collaborate closely with senior leaders to identify commercial opportunities that deliver tangible benefits while maintaining rigorous standards of probity. By building strong relationships internally and externally, you will help embed a culture of excellence in procurement practice. Your ability to educate others will be key in uplifting capability across the business so that all staff involved in procurement feel supported and empowered. Sustainability will be central to your approach; you’ll ensure that every investment decision considers long-term impacts on communities. Regular reporting on performance metrics will keep stakeholders informed about progress towards strategic targets. Ultimately, your success in this role will be measured by your ability to deliver innovative solutions that balance value for money with positive social outcomes.

- Ensure effective implementation of procurement strategies across all business units by providing guidance, oversight, and thought leadership.
- Produce regular reports detailing benefits and savings achieved through procurement activities to inform decision-making at all levels.
- Advise senior leadership teams on all matters related to procurement planning, supporting them with expert guidance throughout the process.
- Review tender recommendation reports, manage probity processes, and provide advice to relevant committees as needed.
- Educate and support staff responsible for procurement and contracts across the organisation to build capability and ensure compliance with best practice.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as executive leadership teams, managers, contract managers, and external partners including government agencies and service providers.

You possess advanced interpersonal skills which allow you to connect authentically with people at all levels—whether guiding executive teams or supporting operational staff. Your understanding of public sector environments means you appreciate the importance of transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement. You are comfortable managing competing demands without losing sight of long-term objectives. Your analytical abilities enable you to interpret data effectively so that recommendations are evidence-based. Above all else, your collaborative approach fosters trust across teams; colleagues know they can depend on your guidance when navigating challenging situations.
