Why Te Puni Kōkiri?

Te Puni Kōkiri is the Government’s principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development. To perform such a role effectively we must exert leadership and influence on the public sector system to support government to have a positive impact on Māori wellbeing outcomes and intergenerational transformation.

About the Regional Partnerships and Operations Puni

Within Te Puni Kōkiri’s Regional Partnerships and Operations Puni, is the Investment Directorate -  which both the Investment Portfolios team and Investment Planning & Support team sits within. Our role is to manage and advise on investment in innovative initiatives that build capability and readiness of whānau and Māori communities to achieve their aspirations, leading to intergenerational transformation.

Our investment portfolios specifically target the fields of Māori enterprise, employment/workforce development, whānau resilience, and culture/heritage. We carry out our work through the maintenance of relationships, supporting engagement, brokering and delivering services to iwi, hapū and whānau on strategic priorities for government; supporting the implementation of regional strategies and plans to improve Māori wellbeing and support development, and monitoring impact of investment for each portfolio.
