What you'll do:

As a Commercial Accountant, you will immerse yourself in the day-to-day financial operations of a large-scale manufacturing environment.

  • Partner with operational teams to deliver robust forecasting processes and annual budget requirements that align with business objectives.
  • Provide coaching across the network to enhance commercial understanding within operational teams, fostering a culture of shared financial responsibility.
  • Drive analytics and deliver actionable insights into cost performance using standard costing methods, cost-to-serve analysis, volume/rate/mix reviews, root cause analysis, benchmarking, and best practice comparisons.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within your area of accountability by proactively analysing data and recommending strategies for enhanced profitability.
  • Participate in the Sales and Operations Planning process by contributing to reporting frameworks that support effective decision-making across multiple sites.
  • Review and update standard costing processes as well as reporting frameworks to ensure accuracy and relevance throughout the quarry network.
  • Utilise available tools and data to challenge existing operational dynamics, supporting the development of initiatives that optimise cash flow and profitability.
  • Undertake project work including developing business cases, supporting approval processes, and assisting with implementation once projects are greenlit.
  • Provide timely analysis and interpretation of monthly financial results to senior finance stakeholders, highlighting key trends and variances.
  • Take ownership of inventory management functions during month-end processes while also managing manufacturing accounting tasks as required.

What you bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in accounting or a related discipline is essential for this position as it underpins your ability to provide expert financial guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience (4-6 years) in commercial partnering within a manufacturing-focused environment ensures you can navigate complex operational landscapes effectively.
  • Advanced modelling abilities combined with strong analytical and numeracy skills enable you to interpret data accurately and provide valuable insights.
  • Proficiency in standard costing methodologies along with experience managing manufacturing forecasts and participating in Sales & Operations Planning processes is highly desirable.
  • A proven track record of taking personal accountability for actions while consistently delivering accurate outcomes demonstrates your reliability.
  • Excellent communication skills allow you to succinctly share key issues with both finance professionals and non-financial stakeholders alike.
  • The ability to build dependable relationships across various business units fosters collaboration towards common goals.
  • Experience handling high levels of complexity equips you to manage competing priorities without losing sight of critical details.
