Advisor - Organisational Development and Capability
Play a pivotal role in supporting the growth and transformation of both people & culture within a large, values-led public sector entity. Be part of a team that is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders by fostering inclusive and supportive workplaces. This position offers you the chance to work on impactful projects that align with strategic goals, and the satisfaction of contributing to initiatives that have a lasting positive impact.
In this role you will immerse yourself in a collaborative environment where your expertise will help shape the future direction of workforce capability. Your day-to-day activities will involve helping assess learning needs, develop tailored solutions that drive cultural change, and implement strategies that enhance overall organisational performance. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all initiatives are not only fit for purpose but also promote inclusivity, respect for diversity, and alignment with long-term strategic goals. By providing thoughtful advice to leaders at all levels, facilitating blended learning experiences, maintaining robust policies, and nurturing strong relationships both internally and externally, you will help create an environment where everyone can thrive.
- Support the design, delivery, and implementation of organisational development and capability strategies, plans, and initiatives that foster a thriving workplace culture aligned with strategic objectives.
- Collaborate closely with People Partners, leaders, and stakeholders to ensure all OD & Capability activities are integrated with wider business strategies and transformation programmes.
- Develop innovative blended learning solutions using modern technologies and frameworks to address current and future learning needs across the organisation.
- Provide expert advice on organisational development and capability matters to people leaders and teams, ensuring interventions are tailored to specific needs.
- Actively contribute as a member of project teams or provide support for specific projects to ensure timely delivery within agreed cost and quality standards.
- Ensure policies and procedures supporting OD & Capability initiatives are identified, maintained, and updated as required.
- Promote inclusion by embedding Te Ao Māori perspectives into work programmes and ensuring all initiatives reflect diverse viewpoints.
- Establish and maintain constructive relationships with internal teams, external partners, unions, and other stakeholders to support alignment of programmes across the organisation.
- Assist people leaders in developing positive workplaces through conflict resolution support, performance issue guidance, and relationship-building activities.
What you bring

You understand how important it is to embed inclusive practices into every initiative—valuing different perspectives enriches outcomes for everyone involved.
Your ability to manage competing demands without losing sight of quality standards sets you apart; so does your willingness to seek feedback for continuous improvement. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity when integrating new approaches or responding flexibly to evolving business needs.
