Senior Technical Specialist

A leading financial institution is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist – AWS Cloud Infrastructure to join their Technology Platforms team in Auckland. This six-month contract offers the chance to lead cloud transformation initiatives in a supportive and agile environment where your work will have real impact.

You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team to design, implement, and automate secure AWS infrastructure, enabling self-service cloud capabilities across the business. What you'll do:

  Design, deliver, and manage scalable, secure AWS solutions using infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform desirable).

  Automate compliance guardrails and build secure self-service tooling for cloud users.

  
  


• 
  

  Guide external project teams and stakeholders on best practices for cloud configuration and governance.

  
  


• 
  

  Build serverless solutions using AWS Lambda and Python.

  
  


• 
  

  Contribute to Agile ceremonies and promote strong user experience design.

  
  


• 
  

  Support incident prevention and maintain high standards for security and risk management.

  
  


• 
  

  Share knowledge and improve internal capability across the Platforms Domain.

  
  

What you bring:

• 
  

  Hands-on AWS expertise (e.g., EC2, Lambda, IAM, SCPs, S3).

  
  


• 
  

  Strong DevOps knowledge including infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipelines.

  
  


• 
  

  Proven ability to deliver cloud-native, serverless solutions (Python preferred).

  
  


• 
  

  Clear communicator with stakeholder engagement experience.

  
  


• 
  

  Passion for continuous improvement and emerging tech (AI/ML, Terraform a bonus).

  
  


• 
  

  Sound knowledge of risk and compliance in cloud environments.

  
  


• 
  

  AWS certifications or equivalent experience highly valued.
