Senior Test Automation Engineer

What you'll do:
As a Senior Test Automation Engineer based in Wellington, you will immerse yourself in all aspects of the software delivery lifecycle—designing automated tests, collaborating on product creation, providing hands-on support during maintenance phases, and influencing strategic decisions during planning sessions. Your day-to-day activities will involve working alongside agile squads to collectively deliver reliable products while championing quality assurance standards. You will be instrumental in developing end-to-end automation frameworks that underpin business-critical applications, leveraging your technical acumen to drive efficiency and accuracy. By mentoring peers and engaging with stakeholders across various functions, you will help cultivate an environment where collaboration thrives and continuous improvement is embedded into every process. Your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly will enable you to influence outcomes positively while ensuring that testing practices remain aligned with evolving business needs.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience leading the setup of comprehensive QA processes and automation frameworks within SAFe software development squads.
- Proficiency in designing modular test frameworks using automation tools such as Playwright or similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience with low/no code development platforms like Appian or Pega is highly desirable but not essential.
- Strong understanding of database technologies including PostgresSQL for backend validation within test scenarios.
- Expertise in utilising source control systems such as GitHub alongside CI/CD pipeline tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Solid background in programming languages relevant to test automation (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript; familiarity with Java, Kotlin or Python advantageous).
- Experience working within AWS DevOps environments with practical knowledge of containerisation using Docker.
- A proven track record of coaching and mentoring other QA engineers to achieve their full potential within agile teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with colleagues at all levels as well as external stakeholders.
- A resilient mindset characterised by curiosity, self-awareness, adaptability when facing challenges, and commitment to achieving shared goals.
