Contract Service Designer
A leading organisation is seeking a Senior Experience Strategist for a pivotal six-month contract role based in Auckland. A unique opportunity to shape the future of internal business solutions as part of a major Management Information System replacement project. This position sits within a highly respected Design Area, where you will join an established team of 30 design professionals and collaborate closely with nine fellow strategists.
What you'll do:
As a Senior Experience Strategist, you will play an instrumental role in shaping the direction of a business-critical internal solution as part of an ambitious transformation initiative. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve leading user-centred design efforts for complex systems, conducting thorough research to understand user needs deeply, and translating these insights into clear service design artefacts that inform every stage of development. You will facilitate workshops that bring together diverse perspectives from across the organisation, ensuring everyone is aligned on objectives and approaches. By building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, you will help create an environment where collaboration thrives and innovative solutions can flourish. What you bring:
- At least five years of applied experience in design roles within large organisations where you have demonstrated your ability to deliver impactful results.
- Proven expertise in moderating user research sessions that generate valuable insights for guiding product or service development.
- Advanced skills in facilitating workshops and co-design activities that foster collaboration among cross-functional teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of service design practices including the creation of artefacts like blueprints or systems maps.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with stakeholders across different functions within an enterprise environment.
- Experience framing customer opportunities effectively to guide focus areas for innovation or improvement initiatives.
- Evidence of delivering research outputs that have led directly to real-world impact within previous projects or roles.
- Familiarity with UI design principles and fluency in Figma would be advantageous but not essential for success in this role.
- Background in roles such as Senior Product Designer, Service Designer, Customer Experience Strategist or Design Strategist is highly regarded.
- Portfolio showcasing case studies from complex projects where you influenced stakeholder alignment and delivered context-rich artefacts.
