Senior Associate - Corporate

We are working with Burton Partners, a leading specialist commercial and property law firm in Auckland CBD, in finding a Senior Associate to join their close-knit and high-performing Corporate Team. What you'll do:

You’ll lead complex M&A deals, advise on capital raising and structuring, and provide broad commercial advice to a quality client base of privately owned businesses, high-net-worth individuals, corporates, and offshore investors. Working closely with two supportive and well-regarded partners, you’ll enjoy both autonomy and mentorship, as well as the chance to build strong, direct client relationships from day one. Your day to day will see you:

• Manage complex M&A transactions from inception through completion, providing strategic advice to clients throughout each stage of the process.
• Advise on capital raising initiatives and structuring matters for high-net-worth individuals, privately owned businesses, large corporates, and offshore investors.
• Deliver comprehensive corporate advisory services covering business sales, franchise systems, commercial property matters, and trust advisory work.
• Collaborate closely with two highly regarded partners while enjoying significant autonomy over your caseload and client relationships.
• Engage directly with clients from day one, building trusted relationships through clear communication and practical legal solutions.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of junior solicitors by sharing knowledge and fostering a supportive team environment.
• Participate in business development activities to help grow the firm’s profile within the mid-market sector.

What you bring:

• Demonstrated experience (ideally 7-9 years PQE) in corporate law gained at top-tier firms or reputable boutiques, with exposure to complex M&A transactions.
• International experience, although not required, is highly valued alongside New Zealand legal expertise.
• Proven ability to manage deals independently from start to finish while collaborating effectively within a team structure.
• Commercial acumen with a client focus.
• Interest in mentoring and supporting junior team members.
