Save job

A leading Tauranga-based law firm is seeking an Employment Law Senior Solicitor with 3+ years PQE to join their team. You will have the chance to work with respected Partners, gaining exposure to complex matters while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of the Bay of Plenty region and flexible working arrangements. If you are looking for a role where your expertise will be valued and your career can flourish within a nurturing and knowledgeable team, this could be the perfect next step.

What you'll do:

You will play a pivotal role in supporting Employer clients through a wide range of workplace matters. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve providing expert legal advice on everything from drafting employment agreements to managing complex restructures and handling sensitive personal grievances. You will be relied upon for your ability to guide clients through challenging situations such as mediations or workplace investigations with empathy and professionalism. Working closely with experienced Partners who are leaders in their field, you will have ample opportunity to deepen your expertise while contributing meaningfully to the success of local businesses. Your commitment to building lasting client relationships will be key as you help employers navigate evolving legal landscapes. This position offers not only stimulating work but also the flexibility needed to enjoy life in one of New Zealand’s most desirable regions.

What you bring:

  • Hold an LLB or equivalent degree from a recognised institution along with a current New Zealand practising certificate.
  • Have at least three years’ PQE specialising in New Zealand employment law with a focus on acting for employer clients across various sectors.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to manage restructures, redundancies, disciplinary actions, and other complex workplace issues with sensitivity and sound judgement.
  • Showcase excellent drafting skills when preparing employment agreements, policies, or correspondence that reflect both legal requirements and client objectives.
  • Exhibit strong advocacy skills during mediations or dispute resolution processes while maintaining respect for all parties involved.
  • Display outstanding interpersonal abilities that enable you to build rapport quickly with clients as well as internal colleagues within the firm.

What sets this firm apart:

By offering adaptable working arrangements tailored around individual needs, they empower staff members to achieve harmony between their professional ambitions and personal lives—a rare find within the legal sector. Their deep-rooted connections with leading businesses across the Bay of Plenty mean you’ll always be engaged on interesting matters that genuinely impact the community. The firm’s culture is built on mutual respect; Partners are approachable mentors who invest time in developing talent at every level. With offices located amidst some of New Zealand’s most picturesque scenery, employees benefit from an enviable lifestyle without sacrificing access to high-calibre work or career progression opportunities. Here you’ll find not just a job but a place where your contributions matter—and where your growth is actively supported by those around you.
