Senior Legal Counsel

About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

You will provide legal advice on a range of critical areas including public law, commercial contracting, regulatory compliance and enforcement, environmental law, amongst other matters.

You will play a key role in navigating complex legal matters while driving operational improvements. Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to providing strategic guidance to senior staff and stakeholders on contracts and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and fostering strong relationships across the organisation.

This position offers flexibility in working arrangements, including hybrid working options.

What you will bring | Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu

• Intermediate to senior level of experience, with some obtained in-house or public sector
• Experience in all areas of law that the role involves is not crucial, but ideally you will have worked across some of them.
• A friendly, professional approach with strong relationship management skills
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice on complex legal issues
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• A current New Zealand practicing certificate or eligibility to obtain one

Flexible working options are on offer. This is a permanent position, but fixed term will also be considered.
