What you'll do:

  • Coordinate frontline responses to cyber incidents and data breaches by collaborating closely with clients, internal teams, and external panels to ensure effective management of unfolding events
  • Advise on privacy events and regulatory notification strategies by translating complex legal requirements into clear guidance for stakeholders
  • Support crisis response efforts by engaging with government bodies, regulators, customers, boards, and other key parties
  • Facilitate cross-border incident coordination by leveraging international expertise from global networks to address multi-jurisdictional challenges efficiently
  • Drive post-incident remediation activities by identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies that protect client interests now and in the future
  • Collaborate with digital forensics specialists, threat intelligence teams, crisis communications experts, cyber insurance professionals, product managers, and data analysts to deliver holistic solutions
  • Engage proactively with internal readiness, recovery, disputes, and investigations teams to ensure seamless service delivery across all stages of incident management

What you bring:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and admission to the High Court within New Zealand, and a current practising certificate (or the ability to obtain one)
  • Experience handling cyber incident response or advising on privacy law matters within either private practice or an in-house setting is highly beneficial
  • A proven track record of providing regulatory guidance during high-pressure situations involving data breaches or digital crises
  • The ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical advice that can be easily understood by non-specialist stakeholders
  • Strong judgement when navigating fast-moving environments where decisions must be made quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that foster trust among clients facing sensitive issues are necessary for building lasting relationships
