Digital Marketing Executive - 12m Fixed Term Contract
KidsCan, a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting children in need across New Zealand, is seeking a Digital Marketing Executive to join their passionate team at the Albany Head Office in Auckland. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to make a tangible difference by driving digital acquisition and loyalty initiatives that directly support KidsCan’s mission of breaking down barriers to education. This is a 12m Fixed Term Contract for 32 hours.
As part of a collaborative and supportive environment, you will work closely with various teams to develop and implement innovative digital strategies, manage impactful campaigns, and enhance the charity’s online presence.
What you'll do:
In this hands-on role, you’ll take the lead in driving organic growth and paid search performance through smart, data-driven strategies.
As our digital expert, you’ll own and execute digital acquisition initiatives in a variety of channels including paid social, manage SEO & paid search campaigns, and support ongoing analytics and platform enhancements. Your work will directly influence how we connect with our audience and grow our digital footprint.
You’ll work closely with the internal marketing teams and external partners to align efforts across SEO, SEM, analytics, and digital optimisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to expand your expertise within a supportive, energetic team where your contributions truly make a difference.
Beyond executing day-to-day tactics, you'll also help guide the work of the Digital Marketing Specialist, manage projects end-to-end, and deliver insightful data reporting that helps shape our future digital strategy
- Contribute to the development and implementation of annual digital marketing plans with a strong focus on achieving set targets for supporter acquisition and retention.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Brand and Marketing, Individual Giving, Fundraising, Partnerships, Programmes, and external agencies to deliver integrated campaigns that attract new supporters and retain existing ones.
- Coordinate closely with Supporter Services and Marketing Communications to plan and execute donor loyalty activities designed to foster long-term relationships.
- Directly manage the Digital Marketing Specialist by providing clear direction, mentorship, performance reviews, and day-to-day support to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Develop and refine comprehensive digital marketing strategies in partnership with cross-functional teams to align with KidsCan’s broader objectives.
- Create engaging content for multiple digital channels including email campaigns, ensuring high open rates and consistent messaging aligned with organisational goals.
- Oversee daily website operations by managing updates, optimisations, functionality enhancements, tagging, and ensuring peak site performance.
- Work alongside external media agencies to manage SEO/SEM efforts within budget constraints while meeting key performance metrics.
- Monitor campaign performance using analytics tools; provide actionable insights for continuous improvement of ROI and alignment with core objectives.
- Prepare detailed weekly and monthly reports on channel performance, customer engagement, brand impact, revenue metrics, and maintain robust tracking processes.
What you bring:
To excel as Digital Marketing Executive at KidsCan, your background should include substantial experience designing successful digital campaigns within charitable or purpose-driven environments. You bring finely honed interpersonal skills—essential for fostering trust-based relationships across multidisciplinary teams—and demonstrate empathy when engaging supporters or colleagues alike.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in digital marketing roles where you have demonstrated success in developing acquisition and retention strategies within complex organisations.
- A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or digital marketing which has equipped you with foundational knowledge relevant to this position.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills enabling you to craft persuasive content tailored for different audiences across multiple channels.
- Outstanding organisational abilities allowing you to manage competing priorities calmly under pressure while consistently meeting tight deadlines.
- A proactive approach characterised by motivation, initiative-taking behaviour, ownership of projects from conception through delivery.
- A collaborative mindset that thrives when working as part of a team; you enjoy building positive relationships internally and externally.
- Proven ability to mentor others effectively—particularly direct reports—by providing guidance that supports professional growth within the team context.
- Experience managing website operations including updates, optimisation techniques such as tagging or A/B testing for improved user experience.
- Familiarity with SEO/SEM best practices gained through hands-on work alongside media agencies or similar partners within budgetary frameworks.
- Advanced analytical skills enabling you to interpret campaign data accurately; translate findings into actionable recommendations for ongoing improvement.
