Women in tech - winner receives an internship at Westpac

Robert Walters is proudly supporting Tech Ruck – a full day event to promote emerging tech talent in New Zealand . Participating in the Tech Ruck is a great starting place for individuals with an interest in technology to meet industry professionals and get their names out there.

Lucky winner, Sarah Dueweke, was awarded a six month tech internship at Westpac. Robert Walters New Zealand helped facilitate the internship at the WREDA Tech Ruck in Wellington.

The culture of the tech industry is changing and it's breaking down stereotypes. Development teams work in Agile environments now and collaborate to benefit from their shared skill sets.

Sarah comments: “I want to work in a company that devotes resources to the technologies they use. Working as a developer means I will always be learning. With the rate the tech industry is developing in Wellington, I'd like to work for a company whose technologies develop in turn. People are pushing to make Wellington a tech hub, which is something I'm eager to be a part of.”

Westpac has recently invested significant resource into technological developments, so having the opportunity to be an intern is a really exciting first step.

About Tech Ruck

The Wellington Tech Ruck was a full-day event supported by NZTE, British High Commission, Westpac New Zealand, Robert Walters and WREDA, that tech organisations around Wellington were invited to participate in. Each organisation sent in a team (or teams) of no more than six people to spend the day coming up with their best ideas and pitches for new ways to enjoy sports using the latest technologies.
