We currently have a range of Senior Policy Advisor/Analyst opportunities available across a range of government agencies, suitable for experienced individuals with experience in New Zealand government. These positions offer the opportunity to work on high-impact initiatives, collaborate across diverse stakeholders, and contribute to shaping policies and strategies.

What We’re Looking For:

• Senior Policy Advisor experience: Currently working or recently working as a Senior Policy Advisor/Analyst within a New Zealand government or New Zealand Local Government organisation.
• Policy Expertise: A strong background in public policy, with experience in areas such as strategy, social systems, legislative development, economic analysis, advisory, or regulatory frameworks.
• Analytical Skills: The ability to apply robust analytical techniques to develop evidence-based recommendations and present complex information clearly.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Proven relationship management skills and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ownership of work: Experience managing projects or portfolios of work, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs.
• Strategic Thinking: Sound judgement and political awareness, with the ability to navigate legislative, operational, and strategic contexts.
• Machinery of Government: Proven understanding of government processes and statutory requirements.
• Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey insights and recommendations effectively. Ability to hold the pen on drafting or leading documentations, briefings, ministerial correspondence, or cabinet papers.

What you’ll Bring:

• 1 + Years of Senior Policy Analyst or Advisor experience.
• Strong ability to written and oral capabilities.
• Ability to travel to Wellington for work.
