An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Specialist to join a respected organisation in Auckland on a 6-month contract, with the possibility to convert to permanent. The role offers a competitive salary of $85,000 - $95,000 pro-rata.

This role is perfect for someone with a few years’ experience in procurement or commercial operations who is eager to further develop their skills in category planning, sourcing, and supplier engagement.

What you'll do:

As a Procurement Specialist, you will play an integral role in supporting business units through the planning and delivery of procurement initiatives that drive both value for money and sustainable outcomes. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve working collaboratively with stakeholders to understand their needs, assisting in the creation of robust category plans, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to market engagement strategies, track supplier performance, and identify areas for cost savings. By embedding sustainability principles into every aspect of your work and leveraging advanced procurement systems for reporting purposes, you will help ensure that procurement activity aligns seamlessly with broader organisational goals. Your involvement in team meetings and capability-building sessions will further enhance your knowledge while contributing positively to the team's collective success.

  • Support the execution of procurement activities across assigned categories of spend by collaborating closely with senior procurement professionals.
  • Assist in developing category plans and procurement pipelines that align with organisational strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Help manage supplier relationships by tracking performance metrics and supporting ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency throughout the procurement lifecycle by analysing data and processes.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, planning sessions, and capability-building initiatives designed to enhance overall team performance.

What you bring:

  • A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in procurement, commercial operations, contract administration or a related field is essential for this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing while working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across multiple departments.
  • A solid understanding of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle including sourcing principles, contract processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in handling data analysis tasks using Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools to inform decision-making processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with curiosity and a proactive approach towards problem-solving within evolving environments.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts quickly while adapting efficiently to changes in priorities or project scope as required by business needs.
  • Strong organisational skills enabling effective time management across multiple concurrent projects without compromising quality standards.
