Senior Procurement and Commercial Specialist-Infrastructure

We’re partnering with the New Zealand Defence Force to recruit a Senior Procurement Specialist. This is an opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure programmes, supporting the delivery of military facilities, accommodation projects, training facilities, civil works, and major estate upgrades across New Zealand. About the role

You'll join a busy delivery environment, leading complex infrastructure and construction procurements across programmes such as Future Navy Base (FNB), the Defence Estate Regeneration Programme (DERP), and other major capital works projects.

In this role, you will:

• Lead complex procurement activities from strategy through to contract award
  • Run tender processes for construction and infrastructure projects
  • Develop procurement strategies, sourcing approaches, and commercial models
  • Advise senior stakeholders on procurement, risk, and market engagement
  • Lead negotiations and contract formation activities
  • Ensure compliance with Government Rules of Sourcing and NZDF governance requirements

About you

You’re a commercially savvy procurement professional who can confidently operate in complex stakeholder environments and deliver high-value outcomes.

You’ll bring:

• Experience in infrastructure, construction, property, and or public sector procurement
  • Strong experience running complex tenders and commercial negotiations
  • Knowledge of construction contracts such as NZS 3910, NZS 3916, and or others
  • Experience developing procurement strategies and managing commercial risk
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of Government Rules of Sourcing or comparable frameworks
  • Excellent communication, commercial judgement, problem-solving ability and a strong collaborator

Higher Level Security Clearance

• You must be a New Zealand citizen, or hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa
  • You must have lived continuously for the last ten (10) years in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America
  • You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS)
