Payroll Specialist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Specialist to join a well-established and supportive finance team based in Auckland. Key Responsibilities:
As a Payroll Specialist based in Auckland, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of managing comprehensive payroll operations for multiple stores. Your day-to-day activities will involve;
- Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly pay runs for multiple stores with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all changes are accurately captured within tight deadlines.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive payroll information and documentation at all times.
- Prepare comprehensive weekly, fortnightly, monthly, and year-end reports for stores as required by management or the payroll team.
- Respond promptly and professionally to queries from stores, providing clear guidance and support on payroll matters whenever needed.
- Ensure full compliance with tax regulations by managing IRD filings and payments such as PAYE, Student Loan deductions, Child Support, Kiwi Saver contributions, and ESCT accurately and on time.
- Assist with annual ACC reconciliation payments to ensure all statutory obligations are met without error.
- On-board new store employees onto the payroll bureau system efficiently while supporting ongoing maintenance of employee records.
- Participate actively in gathering member feedback to assess satisfaction levels with payroll services and identify areas for enhancement.
- Contribute to the review and improvement of service quality by implementing changes based on customer feedback and membership needs.
- Support business excellence initiatives by assisting in process improvements that enhance workplace methods, practices, quality, and productivity.
Key Requirements:
To excel as a Payroll Specialist in this Auckland-based role, your background should include;
- Demonstrated experience of at least three years in a similar payroll specialist or officer role within a complex organisational environment.
- Proficiency using MYOB PayGlobal software for end-to-end payroll processing tasks including reporting functions.
- Advanced computer literacy with strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to manage data effectively.
- Excellent verbal communication abilities enabling you to explain complex payroll concepts clearly to non-specialist audiences.
- Strong written communication skills allowing you to prepare accurate documentation and respond professionally to queries via email or other channels.
- A calm demeanour under pressure when dealing with customers or resolving challenging situations related to pay discrepancies or compliance issues.
- Meticulous attention to detail ensuring accuracy in every aspect of payroll processing from data entry through to final reporting stages.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times when handling sensitive employee information or financial records.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a finance team environment while building positive relationships with internal stakeholders across different divisions.
- Willingness to participate actively in team meetings, provide constructive feedback, share knowledge generously with others, and engage fully in performance conversations.
